It was toned probably with electricity and chemicals.

If you look at the bottom of his listing, he modified the "no chemicals" above to "no harsh chemicals". He mentions that the color is caused by silver sulfide. Since we know where the silver is, one just has to know where the sulfide is from. It is elementary high school or college beginning chemistry to know what is most likely.

My guess is he slapped a quick chemical reaction together, I don't know of the specifics tho'. Another ASE ruined, imho. IMO ebay should stop allowing AT'd coins to be sold on their website. That would help to stop all these coin doctors from ruining coins.

Free market, Don't like em, don't buy em....but saying a website should bar someone from selling is well kinda dickish it's not like they were trying to hid the fact the toning was artificial.

Bottom line is tone of any kind real or AT + a run of the mill silver eagle = only bullion and bullion price. In this case though Hype + Marketing + lack of education (especially with toning/AT) + the mention of it being art = $61 a coin. This guy should work for Danbury or Franklin mints he could make a fortune. Oh wait never mind he already does. As for the original question. It is probably sulfur rich paper cut to pattern and a damp environment. Notice he doesn't say no humidity or dampness was added just heat and harsh chem.'s. I know with natural tone certain extras need to be present too...Introduction of iron/iron sulfate gives reds/pinks, pure sulfur gives yellows and golds, nitrogen gives either blues or greens, etc. so he probably adds these to the paper or water/steam to color these guys.

I believe this type of toning is done using an electrical field as the main ingredient.
