I have two 2011 Austrian Philharmonics that I've purchased from someone who I believe to be a reputable coin dealer. However, when looking closely at them today I noticed something that seems odd to me. The edges have discoloration, and there are small spots on them as well (in the picture below at the bottom of the cello, and between the bottoms of the left side violins). The dealer keeps them stored in a tube. Is this normal wear from rubbing against each other or is something up with these coins?
Milk spots on phils is not unusual, and if it was handled by someone with bare hands that discoloration would be the result.
Oh, ok. Thanks, for a minute I was worried that I might have been sold fakes or something. I found similar discoloration on one listed on eBay.
