That's the spirit! Trim the fat and put that into something solid.

Cool idea buying metal with metal. Don't know about where you live, but in my area recyclers won't buy copper wire from anyone without a contractors license because of all the theft of wiring.

    Another Maple!!!

Brought in a couple kitchen garbage bags full of crushed aluminum cans. A couple more tips from very generous customers.

Not to impressed with this one. It arrived with some scuffs on both sides of the round. Other wise its a nice round. Oh well.

You're getting totally ripped off if you're only getting 40 cents a pound, all the scrap yards near me pay $1.10-$1.40

Sell all of the reusable stuff to shooters for way better money.

I get my brass from scrapping computers, not shells from the range.

I haven't done it in years, so the price must have changed. I haven't checked in a while...

Unless that Libertad is outside your collection, what good is a 2012 coin in a 2013 set?

It depends on if the brass is clean or is mixed with other metals for instance a brass door knob usually has a steel insert thus they give you a reduced price, same goes for copper pipes with solder on them. Its actually more profitable to leave scrap uncleaned because of the hard work and time involved with cleaning it.

Very true. However, on page one I posted stating that I would have to amend the 2013 only rule due to the fact that I didn't want have to order all the foreign bullion online a coin at a time and pay the 6 dollar shipping everytime. SO I stuck with my local coin shop in an effort to also support local business. The last 3 coins I got was not from scrap money. It was a deal I made with the wife that if she spent x amount of dollars from our tax return that I could spend the same x amount of dollars as well. So that's why I put in the order with provident. Otherwise I wouldn't have ordered from Provident. So it pretty much is a buy whatever silver I can with scrapping money goal now.

I participated in St Baldrick's last week. The owner of the Ford dealership I am employed at donated a 100 dollars to every one of his employees that elected to get there head shaved. I said hey sign me up, its for a good cause. The day before the head shaving fun the owner decided to give each participant 100 dollars in addition to donating. If that was good enough, all the shavees are entered in a dealer raffle to win Cubs or Sox tickets and 100.00 for spending at the game. Raffle is Friday and I'll be crossing my fingers. Anyway with the 100.00 bucks decided to get some silver. Again, went to my local coin shop and picked up 4.50 face value of silver dimes.

Then yesterday I received a letter from Ford Corporate. In it was a Ford rewards mastercard with 35.00 on it, rewarding me for my excellent customer service skills. When back again and got another 1.50 in dimes.

In addition to getting pics I have a T.V and a computer tower and a printer to scrap out tonight. Old tube tvs are nice they give up some copper...especially the degauss wire that circles the tube. Also started saving the boards/ram that are gold plated...get a few of those together and sell to someone that recovers the gold from them.
