Does anyone know if it is possible to buy gold before it goes from mine to refiner? I'm not talking about the nice fancy large nuggets that are selling for ridiculous prices on Ebay. More of something that would sell for under spot... I want to buy a little and just keep it as-is, without refining it.
Just looked at some completed listings and they all sold for well over spot price. Actually more than what it would cost to buy .999 gold.
You gotta pay the price if you want gold, there's no way around it. Save up some money until you got enough. That's what everybody else does. The only way you ever get gold cheaper than spot price is if somebody don't know what they have. In other words, if you buy gold from an idiot you may be able to get it for cheaper than spot. The problem is, most idiots never have any gold.
I'm not looking for cheaper 0.999. I can get that for spot or slightly higher through a local dealer. I'm interested specifically in gold dust that isn't pure. And since it isn't I would only want to pay spot - impurities - refining costs. : ) Looks like that's not going to happen At least I'd be paying a little more than refiners since they need to make a profit.
