I went to two shops today, a generic cash for gold shop and they said a 25% premium for the AGE, another which which is a fairly.. low quality coin shop which doesn't stock the AGE. They wanted a $7 premium on the ASE..

If I were buying the coin in person, what would be a fair price to pay for both?

I have a local dealer who charges $50.00 over spot for an AGE and $4.00 over on an ASE.

Woah, 25% premium on a 1oz AGE? Run, far, fast. The $7 for an ASE is high, but not absolutely terrible if you're only buying one.

In person I'd expect no more than $5 over spot for an ASE, and at most $50 over spot for you run of the mill ungraded AGE.

If you can buy 3-5 ASE's at a time, you'd be in a better position to get it for a better price, especially online where it'll cut down on the shipping overhead.

$50-$100 for the 1 oz american gold eagle

    $2-$4 for silver american eagles.

You will be best served buying online possibly, does your state have a sales tax on bullion? That may explain the high prices.

I don't believe PA has a sales tax on bullion, no.

$3 over for ASE and 5% over for AGE. My one LCS stays standard at 20%-1/10th, 15%-1/4oz, 10%-1/2oz and 5%-1oz. Today's spot would make it just a bit over $80.
