I got an email from apmex with "save on your 1st order" as the subject line. Come to find out, you save $10 on your 1st order of 500 dollars or more.

    A 2% discount. Whoopie.

Not bad though, for example if you are buying generic that is 4% over spot, you are getting a discount of half the premium.

Hey maybe that $10 will get you that oldest affordable coin you said you're looking for.

I don't know if Apmex is selling those. They do have some great Mexican coins. They are hidden, so you have search all over the site to find them. They have 8 reales and a bunch of other cool ones.

For bullion purchases that is a great discount.

Did they increase the shipping though?

  8. A few years ago Apmex used to offer 5% off $50 or more as a special offer several times per year. Now that was a nice way to save money on bullion. TC

I like APMEX and occasionally they do run some pretty good deals... Best one they had lately was free shipping which saved me about $25+ so I can't complain~

That is very big discount if you are buying bullions', heck people are willing to pay by check rather than Card just so that they can get a very similar discount...

  11. 2% discount huh? Well, they could have offered nothing. If I am buying, any discount is a good discount.

Apmex plays an important deflationary role for precious metals investors by undercutting local coin shops and other competitors. They are almost purely a market-based seller, with the exception of certain low-mintage or collectible coins. A $10 discount is great if you were going to buy from them anyway, and it at least cuts down the shipping cost.
