It looks gold. But after i wrote the thread i hesitantly did a stone/acid test on it. It wouldnt stay on 22kt or 18kt. It is the correct weight though

Also i just noticed it says .9999 but no mention of gold. Be AWARE of these guys. All my research done on this date did not exist either.

  7. I couldn't find it in the Krause book.

The info I have is - 8 grams of .9999 fine gold, 19.5mm diameter. 8,980 were minted by the Perth Mint with 5,000 coins issued. Not listed in Krause.

The coin is listed in Krause Km#823 Purity 999 and actual gold content 3 grams. But there is no picture. Added it mentions Pobjoy not Perth Mint.

So it was a counterfeit made in a smaller size than the actual coin. Honestly what was really strange was it had $50 face value. That caught my eye quick. Yet it is definitley made well no cast issues. Struck well. Has some luster although mishandled. What an operation it must be...this is bad bad bad for investors.

MAKECents i don't think it is a fake why would anyone fake a Cook islands coin and issue that doesn't even have a numi value. As i said it is listed in 1995 50 Dollars is Listed in Krause i would email and check with Pobjoy and even Perth Mint.

Why wouldnt you fake them. I paid 170$ for it. Now say you make 1000 copiesthats about $170000
