Dang. Missed out..........on all the pucks. Thought at first I might buy in, but let it pass. Best of luck to all You folks who collect and seek profit.......
the volcanoes puck is the only one i have purchased (so far ) by far the coolest ATB quarter imho -walter
Since I own all 15 pucks, I'm hoping that they defy the odds and appreciate in value. It is my opinion that they are one of the coolest things that the mint has done since discontinuing the V-nickel.
What is the difference btw the ones the us mint sells and the ones dealers are selling without the box and coa? Are they the same coin? Both appear to have the P mark.
The bullion issue being sold by places like APMEX carries no mint mark and is very shiny. The collector version being sold by the mint carries the P mint mark and has a frosted, vapor blasted finish.
it looks similar to the satin finish but am reasonably certain it isn't for I am not really proffecient in all the mint tricks -w
No it is not similar to a satin finish. It is a vapor blasted finish. Satin finish is in the dies. Vapor blasting is done after the coin leaves the die. The two finishes look entirely different, too.
I think you did the right thing. I love the coin but my guess is the price will not go up on them until there is less than 10,000 minted unless the price of silver skyrockets. In 2010 when they were first released there was a mad frenzy to get them. Now the mintage levels have fallen which is really good but it indicates that they are only for some collectors and not all. Now let's see what happens to the price of silver. Good luck puck collectors!! :thumb:
I was looking last night and it is too much to back buy all of them at this point. If I had started when they first came out I would continue. I will probably pick up one or two that really interests me, but there is too much of a premium when I could get an extra couple ounces in eagles for the same price. They are neat though.
Thanks, I saw those. Crazy prices, huh? One sold for $76, one is currently bid to $36 with 2d 20h left, and another guy has 3 for sale on a BIN for $75 each. Hopefully these come back down to earth or will they be worth more than the coin? LOL
