I just received two bullion ASE, one is struck at SF and the other at WP.
Both have matte finishes, but one is more matte than the other.
I thought that they were supposed to be shiny like other bullion issues.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing regarding the finishes?

The finishes are similar to the satin finish coins, it is frosty, with reduced luster. ASEs tend to have milky luster.

I haven't purchased a 2013 bullion ASE yet. Do they have mint marks from S and W?

No, they carry no mint mark. They were slabbed based on the label on the monster box. (s) or (w)

It is interesting that they have different finishes. I wonder if that continues throughout the entire mintage so that we'll need two slots in our Dansco albums.

Is the West Point the one that is more matted than the other? I have noticed a difference in mint sets before with P being more matt that the D set.

The WP, while still having the matte finish, is much shinier than the SF. I've got to try to get pics.
