    Time for the drawing for Round 8, which will wrap up this contest.

    Well, Caracalla was reputedly more of a nasty brute than a little darling, but at least he’s still young and innocent looking on that early coin.

    I'm going to go with SD knows this. He's using the term 'little darling' the same way a proper Southern Belle would offer someone the innocuous 'bless your heart' phrase. Right Santini? ;)

    Yeah, some of those old gals down here can hit you with a “bless your heart”, and then you know it’s time to run away!

    A similar one is the fake “can I help you?” I used to get from busybodies when I was metal detecting the public easements (sidewalk strips) near their homes. (Meaning “what are you doing”, or “go away”.)

    Knowing I had a city permit in my pocket to wave at them if they kept being politely rude, I’d say, “no thanks, I’m doin’ fine here”.
