The U.S. Mint had another sales report. They sold 6,500 ounces of gold eagles...500 one-ounce 24K gold buffaloes...and 314,000 silver eagles. Month-to-date the mint has sold 45,000 ounces of gold eagles...7,000 one-ounce 24K gold buffaloes...and 2,275,000 silver eagles. It's been a pretty decent sales month so far...and there are still five business days left.

According to the above it's 43.75 to 1, so not sure where the OP got his info...

Yeah the demand on the US Mint site is not indicative of total demand, but I'd still guess that silver is undervalued relative to gold, on account of supply issues.

How can something be undervalued relative to either as you can buy either gold or silver at approximate spot price unless you want a particular minting. People speak as if there is a "secret value" associated with gold or silver and only a few selected people know it. But if that is the case, volume doesn't show that any are acting on it or the actual value would be higher.

And I am not picking on you, but what "supply issues" are you talking about ? Who can't get all they want if they pay the spot price + transaction fee ( premium)? One may argue over production and usage, but I have not heard of anyone with a legimate contract not getting all they want. Many just don't want to pay for it. IMO.

It should be noted those Mint sales figures include not only the collector coins (minority) but the bullion coins as well. Someone indicated early the pricing was due solely to collectors buying directly from the mint.

In regards to the OP. It's true that a ratio of silver/gold can be calculated at any time, it's not generally useful anymore.
