Yep, I'm sure. One of them common sense things. ;)

It was not my shop and it was not my place to be making such offers.

Nobody seems to "get it." Nothing wrong with ASEs, but if the crunch comes, you will be glad you have small-denomination silver coins like dimes and quarters. To buy or barter a small item, "someone" must come up with change in the form of junk silver. I see no reason at all to pay a premium for ASEs, and when silver morphs into MONEY instead of an investment, you will be hard-pressed to get that premium back.

If you ran a carry-out and someone bought a can of pop with a $100 bill, what would your reaction be?

So did you mean my post is great, or it's great that someone bought a can of pop in my store?

i agree. what if (or possibly when) silver hits $50 an oz and you need twenty bucks for something. would you rather just sell a couple quarters and a dime and get the money you need or sell a silver eagle or 1 oz and get $30 ish more then you want/need. 1 oz pieces are great but having smaller stuff just seems to me more logical especially if silver hits unheard of numbers

ASE's, ML's, and "junk' silver are all good, easily recognized and well known. I agree with Doug that the small denominations with the silver change will help with small transactions if / when the SHTF. I'm a stacker and a collector, started stacking bullion when I realized my collection probably wouldn't get sold no matter what the melt was.

Guns and ammo. Maybe some numismatic coinage for my Franklin set. I was buying at this price and a bit higher in the spring. I was still building my hoard then and now that I have 200 ozs in the pile, I'm not as inclined to being a buyer.

just the fact that i see many 90% owners "sticking up" for 90%, and having to convince "junk" is as "good" as .999 keeps me from buying 90%. when and if i sell my silver i dont want to have to convince someone its worth a certain amount, when i can be assured they will know they are getting something thats .999. just seems like a sure shot with the purest.

You're missing the point that 90% coinage is every bit as recognized as .999, and in many cases more recognizable.

I take it you guys are talking about having to spend the 90% silver coins on pop and such because as you see it other coins will be worthless.

I just don't ever see that happening and if it does I don't see enough of the general public having any 90% to keep the cash flow going anyway.

I think some just use that way of thinking to justify to their better half as to why they need so much silver. ;)

But who knows, best stock up on some Zombie ammo too, lol...

Exactly. Millions of people have never seen an ASE, and the more you try to explain it, the more suspicious they become.

The guys I REALLY feel sorry for - the guys who paid a big premium to buy rounds and bars. Yikes! Every time CNN does a story on tungsten-filled "gold" bars, ten thousand dorks make up their collective mind NEVER to get fooled by bars...

New!! The Bermuda Snowboarder Bar, only $39.95, two for $89.95 ---

Everybody has seen junk silver, and the buy price could not be simpler: 23 times face, 26.35 times face, whatever.

Silver is silver plain and simple. What you want is metal that is easy to ID and with it's silver content well known. Eagles, Maple Leafs, and American silver coinage qualifies on all counts. It's ALL good.

It's ALL good, but some silvers are more convenient than others...

The barter economy of June 23, 2018:

Walmart clerk: "OK, one package of M&Ms. That'll be $8.50 or 10 cents in silver."

Mr. Stacker: "Oops, all I've got is a sil-Eagle."

Walmart clerk: "The afternoon Brinks 16-wheeler hasn't arrived yet. All I've got left is three sil-quarters. Your change will be three sil-quarters, two jars of salsa, a pair of shoelaces, and a 3 month old copy of People Magazine. Deal or no deal?"
