Why do they put serial numbers on some bullion bars? For example this one on ebay. Engelhard fu28276 silver bar http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cool-Toned-...00822447567?pt=Bullion_US&hash=item2ec1f35dcf Can you look up the serial number at some website to get information about the bar or what?
Can I look up the serial number some place myself? Don't seem like it would be that hard to stamp a fake serial number into a bar of silver or I'm I missing something?
