Had a pretty decent day today. Searched $920 in halves and found 6 silver coins (5 40% and 1 90%) I also found 4 proofs and was just wonder how much these might be worth? I know the pictures arn't the best, but any input would be appriciated! By the way, i didnt know if this should go in whats it worth or here in coin roll hunting because I did just find them coin roll hunting
Circulated proofs don't have a premium attached to them for the most part. Value between face and $1.00 IMO.
Modern impaired proofs might theoretically be worth over face, but in practice, there aren't any buyers for over face. This is because un-impaired, normal proofs are so readily available for cheap, there's no reason for somebody to go purchase an impaired proof. There are a couple exceptions, I suppose, but for the most part, this holds true. That being said, I still hold on to all the impaired proofs I find roll searching. I find them interesting. I agree with Lon. The 1976-S is not a proof even though it came from San Francisco. There is a 40% silver BU set that was also minted at SF during the bicentennial. that's what you have. The good news is that it's 40% silver, though!
awesome thanks just weighed it and its 11.5 and thats what my redbook says it should be for silver clad thanks guys
You're right, it does seem to have that look to it. EDIT: OP, you should check the edge on that. See if it's silver or copper colored.
Uh, oh. Looks like little Jimmy's going through dads collection looking for ice cream truck money........
