001a.jpg I don't need any stinking slabs for my ASEs. I put them in my Dansco, even the 75th

Obviously we have a few different tracks here. Mine jives with the one which says: I can enjoy it just as well in the slab or out, however when the day comes I need to sell, the 70 will be easier and net me more. Plus, I don't have to dink around with return shipping to the mint if mine have scratches, which seems to be the typical results of my experience with Murphy's Law.

Looks like Silvertowne is out of stock of NGC & PCGS sets of 70s.

Just got my set today and the coins look very solid and both could go 70. However, since there are no guarantee's in life, I'm not sure I will send them in. I don't plan to sell them immeadiately. I like the way they look in the wood case. If I'm still around when they do sell, I can make a determination on value verses cost then. I don't think a First Strike lable will do that much for the value, like it did my 2009 UHR $20 Gold piece.

Just be aware that once the Making America History C&C set starts shipping you can't get the set designation on the slab on the S proof unless they're submitted in the shipping box, sealed.

Thanks for pointing that out. Therefor the set designation will go away forever on open pieces. I wonder how that will impact value on those labled as sets? It may be too late for me already, since the history sets went on sale yesterday, August 7, 2012. You could have walked in and purchased the set at the mint itself.

thought ngc's policy was to accept the proof as an anniversary set coin as long as you have an accompanying RP.

Based on the condition of my two coins from the mint, I'm guessing that a percentage will grade 70. I can't find anything wrong with either coin.

2012s currency and coin set can be better than 2012s san francisco set in term of percentage increase from cost. see CDN latest august 10 newsletter.

So what would you guys consider to be a "good" price for this set now, either in ogp mint box or 69 or 70?
    Thanks, bill

I bought 6 sets. Sold 4 on eBay at auction starting at $1. Sold for $200-$220. Also, I sold RP from 5th set separately at auction starting at $1. It's up to $122 with 5 days left for bidding. So I got at least 1.5 sets free after eBay/PayPal fees. Not horrible.

This unique pair of Silver Eagle Proofs was only available from the San Francisco Mint in honor its 75th anniversary for just four short weeks and is no longer available. The final mintage was fewer than 252,000 sets - and no more of these 75th anniversary sets will ever be released again!
But there's another important reason that collectors are scrambling to get their hands on these sets...

RPs aren't doing to well right now for me.

I broke up 4 of my sets to sell. Preorder and when they were first released was the best time. RPs were at 180. I dumped the proofs at $65 - 70. And I still have the 4 empty boxes.

Now, i think chances are you'll net $150 at the most for the RP. But good luck.

how they got the prices at this moment.

from CDN latest dealer to dealer bid and ask price.
    2012s reverse proof - bid $100.00 ask $110.00, maximum retail price $125.00
    2012s eagle proof --- bid $95.00 ask $105.00, maximum retail price $120.00
    2012s eagle 2 pc set - bid $190.00 ask $210.00, maximum retail price $240.00, cost $149.95

    2012s eagle proof --- bid 95.00 ask $105.00, maximum retail price $120.00
$5.00 BEP crisp unc note - bid 6.00 ask 7.00, maximum retail price $10.00
    2012 currency & coin set - bid 100.00 ask 110.00, maximum retail price $125.00, cost $72.95

    that's my analysis.

p.s. only if the mintage of 2012s reverse proof lower down due to cancellation and bad credit card. then this reverse proof should go up another $100.00 or more. thus push up the 2 coin set. the 2012s eagle proof already considered the 2nd lowest mintage of the proof family beside 1995w. even this coin add another 100,000 pc. still rank second.

I wouldn't have thought the proof S eagle would be as close to the rp value as it is. I think over time the rp will increase it's lead. This has happend with the first two previous sets, and I see no reason why it shouldn't happen again.
