Was looking at ModernCoinMart, Thinking of just ordering a graded 70 set, their price is 229.00 w/free shipping. Has anyone seen it cheaper? Thanks Jim

If you're a slave to graded modern bullion, the best prices I have seen are at ModernCoinMart and Mint Products. If you are a basic collector and aren't a grading brainwashee, the best price is straight from the Mint.

Spend $70 more and your chances of getting at least 2 out of the 4 coins at PF70 increases, then sell the other set, then you get your PF70 set for issue price. Honestly, I wouldn't spend $80 over issue price on a set that hasn't even been shipped yet, that's just crazy!

$229 is a stupid low price for 2 70s ..if you are crazy enough to wait until AFTER it ships, you will have to spend more than $80 over issue price for the same 2 coins.

Jump on this. This is NOT a clown question bro. These (2 70s) will easily be $200.00 each on the secondary market.

the cost for the dealers is around $135.00 per set. why not sell it for grade 70 at $229.00 a set. other dealers even sell it for $149.99 on those raw coins sets being search already.

I thought the dealer discount was only 5%.

  8. I got an email from MCM this morning stating that they sold out of their initial supply and that they were going to re-evaluate their pricing. IMO, if you want a set and the best price, order one directly from the Mint before end of day on 7/5. TC

As with deciding what grade in which to buy any other coin, it comes down to why you are acquiring. For the best price possible, just to get one, or to maximize future disposition value. Look at the 2011 A25 set...raw and 69 are worth the same, and 70 are 50% more. (That's ignoring the maturation which already occurred.)

If ya just want to look at it, buy from the mint. If it has an imperfection you don't want to look at, return it or sell it. If you want one that's nearly perfect, you have to pay: buy several sets and cherrypick, buy from a dealer now...or later.

The question is...will it appreciate, and over what period of time? And finally, "Do you feel lucky? Well...do you?"

MCM is now showing $259 for 70's and SOLD OUT. I think I'll pass. I would have probably bought one for $229 though.

  11. If you look at the language they use in their email, it says that they reserve the right to adjust prices as necessary. I hope they honor the earlier price for those that ordered. TC

My email didn't indicate that: "...have begun taking actual orders that will lock you in to these very attractive prices!"

I also saw nothing in the confirmation receipt to indicate the price could change after the order was taken.

I doubt they would change prices either. They're already going to be making money, can always order more until thursday, and would **** people off if they cancelled orders that are already paid for.

  14. I agree that they should honor and will likely honor the initial lower price. The email sent today stated in caps and bold:

"PRICES WILL BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON SUPPLY AND DEMAND. WE ARE RE-EVALUATING PRICES AND QUANTITY LIMITS AT LEAST TWICE DAILY."

If you got in early, congrats. TC

Not paying $229.oo for these 2 coins when you had the chance = missed opportunity.

It would seem it's only a missed opportunity if you buy into the graded modern bullion game. For those of us who do not, the only thing I've missed is the opportunity to unnecessarily throw away $80.00.

Without knowing the final mintages or the demand for these you can't really say what's a good deal and what isn't, it's all speculation at this point.

Sure, it's fine to play it safe, play the middle of the road and play the wait and see game but I'm willing to take a stand for what I believe. If at any point in time, these two coins graded MS70 are anything less than $229.00. I'm a buyer all day long. Just let me know where to send the money. You can't go through life knowing everything and sure there are influences out of our control but eventually you need to take responsibility for yourself and make a decision for better or worse. This I'm willing to take to the bank.

Very true if grade bullion isn't your thing than my statement clearly does not apply.

What is your problem? Maybe he wants 70s and collects only 70s. Everybody has their choice as to what to collect. The price of slabbed 70s will go way up--always has on low mintage issues, and probably will in this case as well. So if you don't like the secondary market 70s, don't buy them, but criticize others for what they collect> BOO, hiss!!
