Well, I lost that bet. I was thinking $129.95. My prognosticating skills have never been that keen. I think the Mint has finally figured out they can get more for their products after seeing how much coins fetch at the Royal Canadian Mint, the Perth Mint, the Republic of China Mint, etc., etc.

    Let the gouging begin!

Good, now I'll buy just 1 or 2 - if the price was more reasonable, I'd have to buy 5 to 10.

I think I'll only but 1 set now.
Do you think the TV folks will be selling these this weekend ?

  7. That is a bit steep. I had guessed 119.95 but was obviously way off. They will still be able to sell as many as they want in that month even with silver spot price down. TC

I agree there is an explanation there, but we'll have to agree to disagree that it is a pretty good explanation.

Yeah given the drop in the price of silver lately I was definitely expecting a bit lower price but it is what it is~ Pesonally I don't mind as long as the mintage numbers don't go through the roof, which the higher price will help to keep in check. Once the first weeks sales numbers are in, then we will know how popular it's really gonna be~

$30 too high, in my opinion. I plan on buying just one set, at this time.

It's nice that all collectors can get this set at $150 if they want one, and the fact that they have 1 month to order a set is very nice.

I'm thinking that this price will limit the mintage to 500,000. I was looking at more than one set if they were below $130. I'm in for just one now.

Chances are somebody in charge of sales has looked at ebay in the past year and noticd that they could have doubled the 2011price and sold out just as fast. Probably lucky these are only $150 although I was hoping theyd be $120 range as well. I might buy a set. Not multiples though. 5 for $300 seemed like a better deal than 2 for $150. But who knows?

Im interested to see mintage figures for these more than anything. Will be fun to see what the full and true demand is. Should be a good gauge for the future. Probably what the mint is looking for too.

the high price may keep mintage lower

The counter will ensure the mintage is high. People will keep an eye on that and think anything below 1 million is low mintage and keep ordering. Thats my guess.

This was going to be my first purchase direct from the mint. I am thinking maybe not now. There are other coins I want more for $150.00.

1 set for me from the mint and then I'll buy a graded set down the road.

BOOOO!!! I was hoping for at least $30 cheaper. :(

I now have so little time to make more money than I expected to pay. But I must get a reverse proof!!!!
