Do you think the 2011 "w" burnished Silver Eagle is a good buy?

I don't think many more of these will be sold so we are looking at a final mintage under 400,000 making it the second lowest mintage burnished eagle and the sixth lowest mintage of any eagle. With only the 2011 "S" burnished exclusive to the 25th anniversary set having a lower mintage among the burnished coins.

I really like the "W" burnished silver eagles as a subset of ASE's to collect.

I don't think the mint putting the first "S" burnished eagle out of reach of most collectors by having them part of the A25 set will have any impact on the "W" eagles. It will be interesting to see if the mint does indeed start selling individual burnished "S" silver eagles this year as has been rumored.

The "W" issues command a numismatic premium that make them a poor bullion investment. What remains to be seen is whether they will have a somewhat limited upside potential, just as most of the annual proof eagles do. I am inclined to think so.

I just get them all. have been since they came out. I think they are a good play, as they make them for more years it should become a more popular series to collect. ASEs in general just get more popular every year.

Maybe; maybe not. Are your census/sales figures counting the anniversary sets that contained a W burnished? Then probably yes but if you haven't then add the anniversary sets in will it push it over the 400K mintage?

The US Mint sales report through April 23, 2012 shows a sales total for the "2011 American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin" of 285,045. This does not include the approximately 100,000 additional coins included in the anniversary set. Therefore, an estimate of 400,000 is currently being used for the total mintage.

  7. I think it is a good buy if you get it directly from the US Mint. TC

here's my opinion on this coin... I bought 31 straight from the mint and continue to watch e-bay for any under $46 and scoop 'em up...I also got a NGC MS69 2011 W for $45.71 total and e-bay bucks with it which will go to buying more :D

I could be wrong but isn't this ASE the 2nd lowest minted one?

I was looking online for mintage of the 2011 W American Silver Eagle and was wondering if the sales figure I found at the below mentioned site is the truth...

    http://americansilvereagles.us/us-mint-sales-figures/

303,520 seems to me to be extremely low and I hope it's right :D

  11. Does that number include the 100,000 from the 25th anniversary set? TC

honestly I don't know if it does...but the way the website makes it look like to me it is...meaning 203,520 would be the the total sold individually...
