I have big silver pieces that rank my only scale. CI-B350 350g capacity. I was wondering about 2 kinds of scales. Hook scale and a regular one. They need to be accurate for what i'm planing to do. If I recall correctly they come in 1/10,000 and 1/100,000 so on.... flavors? I don't know too much about it but I want to start performing specific gravity testing and get a good idea of what I got. Silver statues and all kinds of other scrap trinkets need to be probed for density displacement etc..And now that i'm buying random bullion i'm getting cynical. Thanks
I don't know much about scales, but for specific gravity testing there are really 2 things that matter. You want 2 decimal places, and the max weight needs to be high enough. I've used a cheap ~500 gram scale with 1 decimal place and the SG tests come out close enough for my liking, paid like $15 bucks for it, but if you want to be certain better off spending more.
I have this: http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Silver-Digital-Kitchen/dp/B003STEJFM/ref=sr_1_38?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1335178984&sr=1-38 Works GREAT! Goes up to 6000 grams.
