Anyone plan on purchasing a 2012 proof libertad when they are released? If so, what site will you be purchasing them from? I receive the Don Bailey newsletter that stated the availability of pre order, but I was unable to get an order sent through.

Have you tried calling Pat (281-687-6878) at Don Bailey? His markup is pretty high, though. The Mexican Mint is selling them for $48.00 and he is charging $70.00. You might be better off waiting and buying the coin on ebay.

Personally, I'm not planning on getting any, but I have both BU and proof Libertads from previous years. To me, the Libertad is a lot like the silver Eagle. Both have a great design and are well-produced, but they are just so boring, as it is the same old thing year after year.

would you happen to have a link where they are $48? I would greatly appreciate it.

I kind of fell in love with the redesign of the libertad. I'm not really sure what it is, but in a proof setting they are absolutely beautiful to me.

Anyone has a photo of the redesign they can tag on here? Loved the current design, it would have to be a show stopper to top the current design.

I was referring to the redesign of a few years ago. Sorry for any confusion.

Here's the link for the Mexican Mint. The only way you can buy from them directly is to go to Mexico City or have someone else do it for you. Otherwise, you have to go through a dealer or ebay. It is updated every day. You have to convert the prices from pesos to dollars.

I like collecting the Lib's for sure. A lesser known legal tender silver coin for sure, but it's pretty.
