I received this round as a gift. How much do you think I could get for it at auction above spot? It is based on Barber's version of the Double Eagle redesign that was awarded to St. Gaudens.

as a gift you kinda have to keep it. I would. as to value I imagine on the 'bay it would bring up to double melt, there's always 2 somebodys that want that kind of thing. sure glad the mint didn't use it for the coin

That is a good-looking coin. I like both sides of it. As far as value, the way coins are being over-valued these days, I think you could get at least $100.00 for it on ebay. You could probably sell it on here also.

That is funny, maybe I should sell it on Ebay despite it being a gift. They retail at Stauer for $99. My mother joined some thing at Stauer for $89 and got 4 * $50 gift certificates and free jewelry (they say has $99 retail), and a discount for other jewelry she bought. They allowed her to combine to two gift certificates and use it for this even though the coupons say you can't combine them and can't buy coins with them. She did not know these terms and the representative she spoke to her allowed her to buy it. I don't want to sell it because it is a gift and I like it.

I wouldn't sell it for 2 reasons. First, it is both unusual and attractive. Second, it's from your mom and as the years go by, you will probably appreciate having this kind of remembrance of her.

Yes, it is certainly more attractive than your average bullion rounds, unless you were to get a gem proof American Eagle. It also goes well with my Barber coins.

Keep it bud, unless you insist on it. In the end it is your coin. I think that is a beauty though, and a fine example to any collection :thumb:

I didn't realize people buy and sell coins on this forum. You ever get any deals?
