Hey rick congrats on your complete set.I also agree with your policy of not overpaying for something.I feel the same way.I amassed a set of proof 70 sac dollars with the premise that I wont pay more than $50 each.I may have to pay double to get a 2001 but hey thats the price everywhere. I also began a collection of PCGS proof 69 SAEs and I am so happy with them.I'm about halfway there but I wont overpay for anything to complete my collection.
Sounds complete to me! Great job! I am working on my own set but I am a long ways off from having everything. I am lucky to have almost all the proofs including the 25th anniv set but I am still missing most of the bullion coins, the 95 w and one burnished. On a limited budget this set is challenging so I guess I will be busy for a few years.
I may have missed it...but do you have the 2008-W reverse of 07? I think this is the one major variety of the set.
I know we disagree in general about Mr. Carr's "things", and out of respect for you Krispy I have refrained from posting in any threads about him for a while now, but I seriously disagree with you saying that one of his pieces is needed for a "complete" set of anything. What is next, his fantasy 64 piece is needed by all Peace collectors? Mr. Carr should make a fortune with all of his new "keys" he can create. Chris
Yup. I suppose we really do have to get over the '09 lacking thereof. As much as I'd like to fill the hole I've moved on.......
I agree, these aren't mint products and thus are not needed to complete the set in any way. I don't think the set is missing anything without them. If you did want it, it wouldn't hurt anything...but IMHO it's nothing more than an interesting addition to an already complete set.
I also collect ASE's. I added to my collection two of the three ( I think) error coins. 1. 2008 reverse of 07 NGC 2. A blank planchet, edge rolled (ICG). 3. The other one I have see was on CT, an ASE with flakes or peeling on the obverse field, but did not buy at the time, due to source.
I just put my set up on the NGC registry. I only have 5 pics up, but will work on more. They are the "rickyp" sets. Just found out while doing the entries that a 2000 "Millenium" label is needed to complete the set. Gotta work on that now.
That is why I suggested that you get that one. If there is a special label for it, you typically need it for the registry set. TC
I thought that might be the case on the 2000 millenium coin which is why I made my earilier comment. But, I still have the belief that this coin is no different that the standard issue. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks
I am no longer missing any! I now have a complete (according to the NGC registry) set of US Silver Eagles. All of them NGC MS 69 and Proof 69. Thanks to everyone that offered help and suggestions.
Thanks, everyone! Thank you, too, McBlzr, for being my first follower. Now I have to work on something else. Just got into Wartime Alloy Cents and Nickels. Some tough ones there.
I have stumbled on this thread late and by accident (it actually showed up in a web search) , but just a quick note on the Millennium ASE: It was the first bullion ASE to carry proof it was minted at West Point and the Millennium coin was limited to 75,000 making it a key coin in some ASE collectors eyes.
Are you not referring to the 1995W Silver Eagle (30,125 minted)? The 2000 Millenium set did not have a proof Silver Eagle, nor did the MS version bear a mint mark. The Millenium SET was limited to 75,000. It included a Sac Dollar, a One Dollar note and a Silver Eagle. The Eagle was an ordinary MS issue.
No. The 95w is a proof ASE and as such, not considered to be bullion. The 2000 Millennium coin was a bullion strike and until recently, bullion coins carried no mint mark. From 99 to 2000 bullion coins were minted at two mints but there was no way to tell from which they came. Starting in 2001,and again until recently, all bullion coins were minted at WP. The Millennium packaging confirms WP mintage, therefore marking it as the first bullion--non proof--coin certified by the mint to be minted at West Point and limited to 75k. It's hard to find a good one in MS69 as I believe the grades are split pretty even between 68 and 69 with primo 69s scarce--I've had a few before settling on the one I have.
