That's for sure. Your thoughts and questions, and the way they were presented, were well thought out. He probably doesn't get to many letters like this, and he is at a loss picking and choosing his words for an appropriate response. This should be published as a "letter to the editor" in my opinion.
Thanks...it would be nice if someone from the US Mint would log onto CT and let us know what's going on. I must be dreaming...:zzzzzz:
Well if you ask me, all this secrecy, lack of communication and continual flip flopping of release dates by the mint is enough to make anyone unhappy.

Just going to throw this out for fun, The tribute proof gold buffalo advertized on TV is FREE MONEY (For the makers) Seriously, 14 milligrams of 99.999 bla bla bla gold. Who doesn't love something made almost entirely made of base metal? Just had to do it.
so my attempt at comedy has murdered this thread? it is rapidly falling down the recent tread list. and after so many nice posts. in other words *bump*
It's a forum, not a chat room. Sometimes you have to wait a while before someone else comes along with something to add.
http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=16604&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=47506 Hey Duke, It appears the Mint is of your mindset. :burger-flip: 50 units / household - less than 100,000 available! "This household order limit will be reviewed weekly......" It appears no improvements have been made at the mint since the A25 mess and nothing learned.
Hi CT! I am new to CT and coins in general, can some one link me to the 2010 n 2011 proofs in the original post. I found a set, but I am not sure if they are the same set or not. I can pm a link, not sure if I can post a link to a dealer's site. Excellent thread, MADE me join CT!
Here ya go. 2010 no longer available from the mint. I've seen them at local stores for $60-65. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=16216&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10211
Well, I stumbled across some numbers. These are for the week ending on March 9th. 1,377 of the 2011 Silver Proof Sets sold. New total is now 554,875. That's 30,539 behind the 2010 sales which totaled 585,414. Have noticed that several coin blogs are starting to mention the Mints lack of communication skills. Would appreciate it if someone would PM me around Thanksgiving to remind me to place an order with the Mint to pickup a few of the 2011 Silver Proof Sets for my nieces and nephews so that they can have gifts in time for The sets will probably still be available. LOL.
Silver or clad proof set will not go up a lot no matter it is high or low mintage. You can tell by 2008 set (very low, not lowest at that time), then 2009, and 2010. If you really want to make money instead of collection, you can buy spouse metal set. You can tell by look at 2007, 2008 and 2009, all they are more than double your investment. I think it is the time to buy 2010 before sold out.
The US Mint product page was just updated. The 2012 silver proof set goes on sale 6/4/2012. Let the calculations begin. . . TC
