Get a small SDB, start filling it. You will be surprized by how quickly regular deposits to it can become a fun routine and fill it rapidly. When you pull it out of the vault, it's got that amazing dense weight to it that only heavy metals possess. Also, you can always keep a few things around the house, in the safe, to remind you of the rest of your holdings, and enjoy the 'horde' when you visit the bank to make new deposits of PMs you have to add there, or swap things you have at home with the vault at the bank. The security of having your PMs there as opposed to around your home more than pays for itself and the effort it takes you to go visit it should something happen to it while you are away from home or unable to defend it yourself. Still, it's a good idea to have a fire and flood resistant safe at home for anything you do have and keep there. Know your options for insurance as well, most home owners policies do not cover the kind of things we collect and discuss on this forum. Your best security is, as some have suggested, not too divulge too much information publicly about where you keep things and how much you have, limiting the access anyone else has to it or their knowledge of it, and try spreading it around to different places. It's about learning how to protect yourself and knowing your access to the material before problems can occur. First though, you have at least a SDB that you can set up and work on filling, per your budget. No one can tell you how much or how little PMs to hold, nor how much of each one. We don't know and shouldn't know what your budget is for holding this material (or collecting it). Be safe and have fun investing and collecting. Also, welcome to CT!
*Sigh... After reading how much information was out there on how to remove safes, I moved my coins/bullion to a safety deposit box.
Just think how much money you'll save using an SBD that can be put into acquiring more PMs instead of movers, a costly safe, installation, self-defense of the safe, humidity control devices you have to keep inside of it, and repeating the move if ever you have to move house... A low cost, or free if you find a bank offering one, SDB could be a good investment compared to the other allocation of funds. Such costs are one such consideration in going the SDB route. :thumb:
Just an fyi you may want to have atleast 2 SDB with banks far away from each other and get a insurance policy that covers safety deposits. Just so that you don't lose it all when something does happen. That is why you should use you Neighbor's wifi....
What's the size of your collection? Seems like a personal question there. I like to keep the size of my collection under wraps so to speak if you know what I mean. I keep it that way so I don't get too embaressed when asked to show it.
Or the default Linksys password to go change the encryption to something else that suits you. Note: I hope people know I'm being sarcastic, using your neighbors wireless without their knowledge is actually a felony offense and I don't recommend doing such things. :thumb:
Interesting. I didn't know that. There are several unsecured networks in my complex and I've been using them for years. Oh ..well. If I get caught, I'll just plead ignorance. Cool.
You don't "collect" bullion ..you "stack" it. You "collect" coins that have a numismatic value. It's fine to ask a coin collector about collection but it's bad manners to ask a stacker about the size of his stack.
Well basically same rules as trespassing apply. But it is not that clear there are coins that are now going for spot price and in other hand you have some bullions' selling for huge premiums'.
I apologize for offending anyone with my question. I honestly did not intend to do so. I also didn't mean to make it personal. I honestly was just trying to figure out what most would consider a good size investment and was also seeking advice on where to safety store it. Again I apologize
No ned to apologize. Not everyone cares about info but many do now a days. Even with SDB and Guns and such it's best to be tight lipped so you don't sink ships lol
