What sage advice. Such information should come with the disclaimer "don't try this at home". Too late.......
I don't get it...with copper, it's such an insubstantial profit margin that it doesn't make sense to risk your property, your life!! But what can you do?!
True, romex is through the roof. I told my Dad about a year ago about the copper weakness, and how its likely to go back up so he bought a few extra pallets and put in a shed. Its at least double today from where it was. I look for romex and miscellaneous wire when I go to garage sales. You are still able to pick up half boxes of 12/2 for like $5 at garage sales nowadays. That is a great buy even if you don't use wire yourself. Save for copper value or give to a buddy.
ROFLMFAO ...are you new? Have read some of these threads? There are some comical non-law abiding posters around that will give you the heeve - geeves the way they try to get away with NOT obeying the law. Some of the doomday WSHF folk/survivalists will really give you pause about society today ...like most blogs on the internet, the vail of anonminity leads to open and honest discussions, blog are really a study in the real psychology of America and it's a frightening place at times. Sure it's obvious ..don't melt Cents and nickels ...if it were only THAT simple. Pop some popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show ..it's free.
I'm well aware of how the internet works, I've likely been using it longer than most people on this forum. And secondly, since this thread has turned comical but I think the OP was actually meant to be a more serious question, that's what I was answering directly, not all the rest of the nonsense.
Two questions... 1) Is it legal in the USA to melt foreign copper coins? 2) Is it illegal to melt USA copper coins in other countries? Not US law. Their law.
I'm sure contractors wouldn't be to happy, when they try buying wire to finish a job and find its all sold out to metal investors! I was a contractor for 20 years (HVAC). I know I wouldn't be to happy!
