should I trade my 1911 british 1/4 ounce gold sovereign coin for silver coins/bars?

or should i keep my only gold coin?
the coin store will offer me around 400 for it, or I could sell on ebay for 450-500

It's up to you if you want to do so but you may be able to find a better deal in trading it to someone who has silver but wants gold versus selling on ebay or at your lcs.

Do you also have silver? If you do, I would hold onto some gold as well. I am a firm believer in diversification.

You are in good shape then. No rush. Before you know it you will be an old hand like me with thousands of coins. :)

Fyi after ebay fees your item will have to sell at 450+ to match what the coin store offered you.

I have 5 of those 1/4 Gold Sovereign Coins, all mid to late 1800's, and they would be the last Coins I'd want to part with.

Just something about Gold! Makes me go crazy!!!! ..... :bart:
