    sorry this is the only pic I have. This coin belongs to a friend and Im trying to help him find out what it is.

    Looks like a 1963 Thai coin of king Rama IX. If you show the reverse I can tell you the denomination.

    Hey, what gives? I thought you "ancient" guys weren't supposed to know about coins like this. =)

    Yea it's a 1963 20 baht, in .750 silver. Worth around $15 to $20 on eBay in this condition.

    Thanks to all. I spent som time searching and did find one like it, yes it is a 20 baht. Thanks again for the help.

    My wife is Thai, and I have bought many Thai coins from tiger tongue money, to bullet money of kings Rama 1-5th, all the way through complete sets of coins like this and modern commemoratives trying to get her interesting in coin collecting. :)

    As an aside, this coin is dated 2506 in the Thai calendar. I always remember 2500 is 1957 for us. Their calendar is related to the Buddha, just like ours started with Jesus.
