Yeah they have good prices but i think Apmex draws its $$ thanks in part to its website which is more cleaner and more professional than anything out there. For example Paradise mint should update its logo atleast (it is like they took it from Word clip art :p) and some of links don't work

it seems like apmex throw up so many barriers to buying that you just say forget it. wire transfers- a shipping price matrix- they are just over the top. Now if I were buying monster boxes and stuff on that scale it might be different

I have bought several times from Paradise. Free quick shipping, easy credit card checkout. Expecting some items delivered tomorrow :thumb:

I have always had very good experiences with APMEX. They are a first class operation. Their order procedure is easy; their customer service is great and their packaging and shipping are the best I have found. I have never had a wire transfer issue and have always used either a personal check or a credit card. Their shipping is on the high side, no doubt, but merchandise is packed very, very well and the shipping process is very good. The dealers I patronize are: Modern Coin Mart, Gainesville Coins, Provident Metals and APMEX.

I have never ordered anything from Paradise Mint, even though it is right in my neighborhood. My impression of the company, after looking at their website, is they are pretty much just another hash-slinging dealer that dishes out the same old graded modern bullion. It seems like 95% of what they offer is slabbed. If a person likes that, it's great for them. For those of us who like to find things not found all over the place, APMEX offers such items. I mean, really, do they really need to be selling 2012 silver eagles under 5 different NGC labels? Yawn. Wake me up when you have something interesting to sell. Also, the shipping is not free; it is built into the prices of the merchandise. Compare their cost of silver eagles to the companies I mentioned above and you will see what I mean. I don't think they are bad, by any means. They just appear to be another slab-slinging dealer in an endless parade of the same.

2012 silver eagle roll (20 coins) pay with credit card

    paradise $689.99 free shipping
    apmex $706.37 shipping ???!!!???
it took a while to find the product on apmex and after trying to find shipping for while I gave up- I could not find their shipping charge!! Paradise has a website that is WAY easier to use- the shipping is RIGHT THERE (free!)- and it is easy to find products

They do. Rest assured, though, Paradise Mint has the credit card fee built into their price. They are charging $37.00 for a 2012 silver eagle. Provident Metals is charging $33.00. The $4.00 extra Paradise Mint is charging is to help defray their shipping and credit card fee costs. Very few things are free and many that are you don't want anyway.

You are groing to pay 1 way or another; how you do it is up to you. What I would say is, all things considered, APMEX is a more well-rounded company, but again, I have never ordered from Paradise Mint.

In this example, it looks like Paradise Mint is the way to go, but may not be so in other instances. Look at Provident Metals and Gainesville Coins also, as their prices are very good also.

I just looked at Gainesville Coins and they are $678.00, with shipping and credit card fee, if you want to save a few bucks.

don't know about Paradise but I do know that I can always find a better deal than Apmex has. I keep checking them but never end up buying. slick website, who cares, I'm after the product. also I always pay with check or mostly M.O. now. no paper trail at my end with M.O. the **** with CC fees and I don't care if it takes a week longer, going to have the item for years

I just made an order from providentmetals for the first time last week and my order is still in "Processing" status. It's now going on 10 days, what gives? Any issues like this if you've ordered from them before? I've fired off an email 3 days ago, no response as of yet. My credit card was billed 9 days ago and cleared the same day. Not sure about others but over a week in processing status means crappy service, especially no response via support email asking for an actual status of what's going on.

I have also tried to buy from apmex- but half way through I say forget it- just too many hassle. That is why I was amazed by how easy it is at Paradise- they take credit card and have free shipping

One can look at it the other way around. AMPEX gives you the option of avoiding a built in 3% charge by paying with other means aside from a credit card. Mailing them a check and waiting for them to clear it, isn't a big deal. While 3% isn't much of an issue on a silver coin, when you get into the range of a couple of thou for a gold coin, that 3% adds up fast. I'd rather not have it built into the price of the coin.

(I will say that if any of these vendors are reading this, then I'd say that it would be nice if you could post terms for getting a check or payment via a bank bill pay.)

The reason so many hoops and roadblocks to buying from APMEX is that they are a U.S. PRIMARY DISTRIBUTOR. Those are the key words; which to my knowledge means they are one of the 9 or so direct U.S. buyers of bullion from the U.S. Mint. Gainesville, Black Mountain Coins and a few others are only SECONDARY DISTRIBUTORS. Meaning they can't buy direct from the mint but can buy in wholesale and bulk (to keep costs down) from primary distributors to supply national and area retailers and coin shops. Depending on how and from whom the dealers (retailers) buy their bullion the coins could have two or three middlemen and their profit markups. Gainsville and the like would have less middlemen and profits adding to the cost and buying from APMEX is as close as individuals can get to buying direct from the mint. Also from what I can find Paradise isn't even listed as a Secondary distributor so they are more of national retailer/coin shop.

What hoops and roadblocks? You place your order and submit payment. Can't be easier.

Wow; I would call them for sure. I have never had that happen before. The times I have had a delay with them is when I sent them a check or I ordered something that was pre-sale and they didn't have it in stock yet. I agree; if it is not because of a pre-order, it is crappy service. I also know they had strange holiday hours, i. e. they were closed a lot. I'd definitely call them rather than email at this point.

Let us know how it goes with Paradise Mint. It just goes to show everyone has their own preferences for various reasons. Some like Coke; some like Pepsi. Some like Mac; some like PC. Paradise looks like it would be fine for the plain vanilla stuff and various slabbed coins. I have just found APMEX very good when it comes to finding "outside of the box type of things" and I feel, in dealing with them everything will be taken care of. In some instances and depending upon the item(s), I'm willing to pay extra for the added peace of mind.
