  1. The US Mint reduced prices on a few silver items today:

The 5 ounce ATB collector coins are now $204.95!

The ASE burnished coin is now $45.95!

    Anyone buying? :smile. TC

I already have all the 2011 Eagles that I want... and I'm not one bit excited about the 5 oz coins unless someone wants to give them to me.

Weren't the ASE's at $47.95 previously? Not that big of a reduction if they were, but tempting to pick a few more up. It would have been nice if they dropped the price of the 2010 Silver Proof set before the deadline.

I'm not that interested in the 5 ouncers either.

Ya know I paid $60 for five o' those things TC. Someone can swoop in and count coup on these things compared to what I paid.....:)

  7. Me too. We now have to time our silver purchases from the mint with the PM market. Glad I did not go for all the 5 ounce collector pucks at $279.99 though. :smile. TC

How about lowering the price of the silver proof sets back down to earth?

The pucks are still overpriced and should be placed in the clearance aisle. The program is a fail. It's like a runner who trips at the beginning of a race and never quite catches up, as the program did with its screw-up at the beginning. It is 2 years in now and the Mint is still 2 collectors' puck releases behind where it should be. Price them close to melt so somebody will buy them.

The burnished is basically another bullion coin, just with better marketing. It's still way overpriced.

Is this the lowest they have sold for from the mint this year?
What date will they stop selling these?

    Thanks!

The vaporized Vicksburg and Chickasaw pucks are scheduled for release in January and February respectively. I wonder where those puppies will be priced by then.

Steven, yes this is the lowest price the MInt has placed on them. I think they can be sold by the Mint until they are sold out, whereas the sales for the bullion pucks ends at the end of the year they were released. Also, Modern Coin Mart is selling the vaporized Olympic National Park in a 69-grade for $209.00. That's pretty good if you like them graded.

I've been expecting a price drop, but didn't think it would come before the 2012 prices were announce in the Federal Register. I've been search the FR each day, but haven't seen anything, yet. Doesn't the Mint have to post in the FR prior to a price change (unless, of course, there's a price chart)?

They usually put these up on their "Last Opportunity" page unless they set a specific amount of mintage numbers, so you won't know until the page item says "Sold Out". ;)
