I know very little about the premium these things command. Is this a reasonable price?

    Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't pay that much over spot for any bullion.

I wouldn't buy a roll at that price, but if it's only one coin for your collection. Will you get $10 of happiness out of it if silver never goes over $30 again..?

If they're that cheap now I might buy one. These are not the same as a 90%, circulated junk silver and should not be viewed as such. To expect to pay melt for one of these or close to melt is unrealistic. Just like you aren't going to buy a proof ASE for anywhere near melt either.

Just because prices dropped severely yesterday doesn't mean sellers will adjust their prices down immediately. When silver was $40 these were going for $50 so I'd say $38 looks pretty cheap now. Just 14 days ago this price would be $5 over spot. This price is below September's melt price which was just 2-1/2 months ago. It could keep going down. I don't blame you if you wanted to wait. But if you wanted one, it's a cheaper price than I've seen in quite a while.

I think that's a fair price. Vess1 is right, thats cheaper than I've seen them going for in a while also. About a month or so ago I asked why Britannias were more expensive than other bullion coins in the forum and learned that they have a lower mintage than a lot of other bullion coins, thats why their premium is a little higher than others. I think the Britannias are beautiful coins and would gladly pay $38 for one.

Yeah, I'd like to know where you found one for $38 because I don't think you can get one that cheap on ebay yet. Must be someone selling one off ebay.

Sorry, guys (and girls, if applicable.) It's Modern Coin Mart at moderncoinmart.com. I've done business with them pretty often and they have been very good. Thanks for all of your input, by the way.

ProvidentMetals.com has a comparable price on these, if they're still on stock. I haven't checked in a couple days, but they were going for $40 before the recent drop.

I paid more than that to get one from the UK Mint, so $38 looks like a great deal to me for this particular coin. It's not a great deal for silver though.

Yeah, that's a fair price for one. They have a more dramatically lower mintage than any other bullion. Stinks they're only 92% pure silver though.

  12. That is a good price. These typically sell at higher premium than most other silver world bullion coins. TC

Update: I picked up my Britannias this afternoon. What a beautiful coin! Not only is the design great on the Britannia side, but the coin definitely has a proof/mirrored finish. I have never seen it so well done on a bullion coin before. It's not at the same artwork level as the American Eagle, but I would rank the artwork above the Maple Leaf, Panda (also a nice coin), Kangaroo and Koala. I would rank the finish better than any national bullion coin out there today. Thanks to all who recommended buying it.

The mintage is listed around 100,000 per year. Can that be right? Also, it is .958 silver and weighs over 32 grams, so the silver content works out to be really close to 1 ounce.
