If it is at all possible to determine from this photo, as it is the only one
I have, if I were to send this ASE
    1995W Proof ASE2.jpg 1995W Proof ASE2 rev.jpg
to NGC for crossover grading, what are the odds of it being upgraded?

    Thanks in advance.

With the money you would spend on grading it again you could have another ASE. I don't know what your graded coin is worth but I picked up a nice 2010 ungraded ASE for $40.00. It's not as nice as yours but it is another 1 oz of silver for me and not some grading company. I personally don't buy graded coins and don't care if a coin is MS70 or MS60. I like to handle my coins once in a while and have fun with them.

It's hard to tell from a photo, but given that NGC consistently has higher grades and this is the 1995-W which is worth so much even in a PR69, if it were me I would do it. You might even want to break it out and send it in separately because you won't need a special label.

I think NGC would charge you just the modern label which is $14 to grade. Their population report shows about 3100 of these graded, of that 249 are PR70s, about 2800 are PR69s and the balance are PR68 and below. I think it would not be a stretch for you to get a PR69, particularly if you break it out and send it in a mint capsule (if you don't have those you can pick them up on eBay for a couple dollars).

    Hope this helps!

The reason he is hoping for an upgrade is because there were only 30,125 of these struck and the only way you could get them when they were originally released from the Mint was to buy the 4-piece gold set.

I don't know about an upgrade. I can count a half dozen "tick marks" on the obverse alone, but what no one can see from any photo, are the very small nicks that may be present in the cameo. The only way you can detect these would be to hold the coin under a light and (slowly) tilt it up-and-down and side-to-side and these very small nicks would reveal the shiny silver through the cameo.

I don't know why you would want to cross it from PCGS to NGC unless, of course, it has already been submitted to PCGS for review and it was determined that it would not upgrade. If this is the case, then I think you would be wasting your money. Consider yourself lucky that you are one of the "fewer than 30,125" people who have one of these.

    NGC prices for 1995W are
    PFUC67 $2790.00
    PFUC68 $2910.00
    PFUC69 $3310.00
    PFUC70 $15310.00

So, you see, if it were to upgrade, it would be worth the submission fee.

I'm still waiting for delivery of this coin. I'll know better when I have it in hand.
