Good points, as an investment class many judgments need to be made; how much time is spent on "making money"? If you figure in all your time and energy, both physical and intellectual, you may find that it is a net loser. But in a larger scheme of other investments, it might be favorable if you attain the right balance. The best investment is a successful self-employed business where you derive profit, social connection, healthy self-est'eem, and so forth in the process of managing the business. The worst investment is one where you put all your eggs in one Madoff-style investment, where for awhile you are absolutely thrilled by the man's wizardry, and then rue the day you ever heard his name. Real estate can be a winner, if you get lucky and buy a piece that is profitable and a source of healthy living.

Good point. The safest numismatic investments are those where you are at the current dealer to dealer buy prices, possible at coin shows. The Westchester Coin Show happens tomorrow in White Plains, and I have found that by the end of the show you can get really good deals.
