The Mint says 5 Sets per household. What about big companies like HSN or other companies that buy in bulk and what about big coin dealers? Does the Mint limit them?

What you may not know is that HSN alone has approximately 900 call takers that work from there own homes. They are given super fast computers and the fastest data lines available to the home owner. If you are a 1/2 second faster in the computer world in ordering, you may have just moved ahead of 30,000 others trying to order something.
With this set, they will give a bonus for each set sent to them. HSN has another 400 or so at the main call taker center that could also order for a total of 1400 X 5 sets!!!

These big dealers like this are why so many people got left out. If they were not allowed to do that, most collectors would have got their order, plus it would have taken 2-3 days to sell out.

i agree that more would have got order but it still would have sold out in less than 12 hrs just my opinion

I don't believe that at all.
There are tons of collectors that tried and would have been left out either way.
Without the mint sending notices for the sale I would think places like here (coin talk) put a larger dent in that line of people not getting the sets. As forums like these are what fueled the knowledge of the sets being limited and being sold in he first place.
There were only 100k sets. Not everyone can get one no matter how you slice it.
And we like it that way as it excites us to have key's to the series.

...and of course the mint doesn't know that these people work for HSN. What a racket. Too bad we can't boycott them but most likely thier sets are all sold out! Thanks for the info!

Charles.....you and I both know the drill regarding the mints' antiquated ordering system. We've been buying stuff from them for goodness knows how long, and when a potentially popular issue comes up for sale we know enough to log on early and keep pluggin'. Lots of folks that tried to order these sets were uninitiated in the mint machinations, and they were left behind in the process. Experience will leave them better equipped to deal with the next major and potentially popular issue....

Duke is indeed correct. Someones got to be left out in the cold. I'm sorry that so many collectors that wanted these were shut out. The speculators have always been a bane to this hobby of ours, and yet, there's always going to be someone trying to make a quick buck on things. Free enterprise and the capitalistic system. Should we make it more equal? Should we guarantee that everyone gets one? If that were the case I wouldn't want one, as the dang thing would be worthless (to me) indeed......or, I'd buy it in the aftermarket for about fifty percent less than mint issue price. :)

Sure the Mint knows these guys are out there. But there is no way that they can police it. You get 50 or 60 HSN employees that order these sets looking the same as you and me trying to order these sets. Nothing distinguishes them. Nothing sends up a red flag.

did anyone else get a piece of dark blue paper (about 1/2 centimeter long) inside of a coin capsule (between the coin and the plastic)?
