the bad news is the box is plastic not hardwood. the mint advertised as a "highly polished, lacquered hardwood presentation case " but its plastic. i called the mint and a lady confirmed it's plastic

Not to worry, we'll be able to get a cherry hardwood presentation case (that sells by itself for $29.99) when we buy are ANACS graded eagles from the COIN COLLECTOR show:yes:

Can you confirm what personal information is contained on the paper within the package?

Name, partial or whole credit card number, address, etc ?

Thanks, and thanks for sharing that video with us.

    Thanks YoYoSpin, well done.

Beautiful set and coins.Interesting after viewing you opening up the set that the coins had dislodged from their positions in the case.
I know we have all had concerns about the Mints packaging in the past.
Glad that you didn't experience any surprises or damage.
I'm looking forward to my delivery.

I especially like how you get rid of the excessive packing paper

this is just an amazing set of coins. Now that I see them as a set I set the value at a grand a set- that is what they are worth.

Gun at home not such a great idea for many folks, but more power to this gentleman if he feels safer and can handle the responsibility of being a gun owner (he appears to be mentally stable). I guess I'll stop there. I think I read that no politics are allowed on these threads.....

Why not just store the capsules in your safe deposit box and keep the bulky boxes at home? A friend suggested this solution to me.

Sorry for my offensive post:( It was inappropriate for me to comment on such a topic on this thread. I should have just stuck to talking about coins...

Received my 5 sets today, opened the box and did a cursory inspection of all coins by eye, looking for obvious flaws, happy to say none found. As was mentioned before, in every set most of the coins were out of their slots. The last set opened was a heart stopper, as the capsule for the reverse proof, although tightly pushed together, was empty. I did find it in the bottom of the case and inspected it with a 5x and found no damage, except there are little fibers all over it from the case. Any suggestions how to remove the fibers? Also, one of the slip covers has some goo on it from a sticker. Any suggestions how to get the goo off without damaging the finish on the cover?

I think what YoYo provided here was a glimpse of the sets that those people who will send their boxes straight to the slabbing companies will never have. That was very nice of him.

I just can't shake the feeling that there are just a few people out there that take this stuff just a little too seriously. :D
