It is very reflective, and looks and smells like plastic. Not too luxurious, IMO.

hmm...I'm curious to see what the total of those three auctions go for.

I thought maybe it might be plastic.

the mint advertised it as a "highly polished, lacquered hardwood presentation case "

it's a nice set though. and really all about the coins.

Read somewhere that this set contained the 3rd rarest eagles (2) of all time. Thinking about this San Francisco Mint State, it is the rarest satin finish uincirculated, of all time. I doubt if there will ever be a year when the mint makes fewer than 100,000 satin finished uncirculated. They are beautiful!

Thanks, Green for your words of reassurance in your previous emails:) As it turned out, you were absolutely right: in retrospect, there was nothing for me to worry about. I received my tracking number today and will have my coins tomorrow or Friday (I don't know if the fulfillment center got the package to UPS by the cut-off time today for it to be delivered tomorrow). I admire your equanimity,Ken. It is a quality that I wish I possessed. I don't know how you manage to stay so calm and keep such a positive attitude in situations like this. What's your secret? Again, thank you for your soothing words. All of this stress and worry was completely unnecessary:( I turn 38 years old on Veteran's Day and I am sad to say that I still haven't grown up (learned not to worry to an unhealthy level about things beyond my control). I wonder: did any of you other posters find this waiting for your coins to be a stressful ordeal? Or was I the only worrywart?:(

They sold 100k of these in 4 hours. Less than 100k will be available. How is market flooded?

I hope people realize when you send your unopened boxes to strangers, your personal billing and mailing information is
    included. Be careful.

Jayfurball, you have to send them your billing and mailing information to get the coins graded anyway. There is no billing info on the mint receipts.

For those of you who don't order from the mint on a regular basis, one to two weeks is the standard goal (not promise) for shipping items from stock. Paying the $12.95 is not only to pay for next day air but is also supposed to shorten the up front time to 2 to 3 days, but again, for in stock items. We honestly don't know if these sets were in stock on the 27th. They might have been but even if they were, the mint still had to vette our orders to prevent household limit violations. Then, to honor the FIFO promise (which they appear to be doing) they have to send valid orders to fulfillment in cleared batches for picking and shipping. As someone who has been ordering from the website since July 2000 (order #4275XXX), I think they are doing as well as PBGS has ever done. That doesn't mean I am totally satisfied, I would like to see PBGS bounced, I think they are the worst fulfillment contractor ever.
