Slightly OT, but does anyone know if the large firms have upped their offer for these sets, or are they the same as when they first went on sale. Highest I ever heard was about $425 offer price, with others being around $380.

I would guess that most collectors interested in buying probably have enough in reserve to purchase, but the lateness of the arrivals may cause some to keep from buying. They will have to think about family Christmas purchases, especially on a credit card with limited funds. Kids and family will come first, themselves second. There may be a strong after market once the bills get paid down, again in Spring. A second chance for sellers.

eBay is doing the right thing. It should outlaw any kind of selling of futures -- products that the seller doesn't actually hold or own, and may never hold or own. Their new policies help to insure (but not guarantee) that the seller actually owns the product that is being sold.

The US Mint has realized what a giant mess it has caused by the email sent to customers today stating they screwed up on this sale and are looking at ways to fix it in the future.

I didn't get the email. Did it only go to those who didn't get the sets?

Might as well make an "investment" for the kids/grandkids. Actual cost is a lot less than value.

I got it, (and posted on another thread), and I got 5 sets.

Wasn't that you that promised a set for a contest prize if you got your high order number filled or was it Salty? I'll have to search for that. Looks like higher order numbers than we thought are getting filled.

That's where the "I think" comes into play. Gotta see how much these thing end up going.

This isn't anything new for FleaBay, and they should have had the safeguards already in place before the first listing posted because they had the same problems with the 20th Anniversary Sets in 2006.

What appears to be happening with the orders is the way they are filled. If you ordered 1 or 2, those will go through the credit card verification process must faster than those that ordered 3 or more. You may have been first in, but because you ordered 5 sets and the process takes longer, and 10,000 orders behind that are for 1 or 2, they just got filled before yours. What this means is that a lot of the orders for 5 won't get filled. I have several orders in with family, I personally ordered 2 and they are 35,000 numbers behind a family member who ordered 5 sets. Mine are in process, his are still on hold!

  20. There are plenty of people on CT who have ordered 5 sets who are now in process. Not sure how to explain your situation except maybe the Mint is cracking down on friends and family orders. TC

Not at all saying that people who ordered 5 won't get them. What it shows is that a lot of the 5 orders are getting pushed back and at some point, the lesser orders will go out before the others. Watch and see if we don't start seeing people with orders of 3, 4 and 5 and with much lower order numbers ,start getting canceled. As far as friends and family, there is no cracking down as it is 5 per household. I can get 500 as long as no more than 5 go to the same household.
