I wrote to NGC requesting information on the containers and this is what I was told. As per Lisa Berzins who works on NGC:As of January 1, 2011 NGC no longer offers the Multi-Holder
if ngc/pcgs issue in separate slabs, who cares if the coins aren't submitted together? i'm very confused.
Too bad, this would be a nice set to have in a multi - maybe one that matches the 2006 multi (if there is one). Come on TPG'ers, can't you make more by offering multis for both sets?
here's an auction for 5 sets that SOLD for $3,499.89...I assume they beat wal-mart's price of $3,499.96.... course if I was able to order 7 sets(1for me and 1 for my dad)...I'd sell 5 for this price too! http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Five-2011-American-Eagle-25th-Anniversary-Silver-Coin-Sets-A25-/320781505131?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4ab011526b#ht_987wt_1163
It's no wonder people were trying to get as many sets as they could get their hands on. Can you really blame somebody for buying up 15 sets if they could, with these prices? It's like the more you bought, the more free ones you could keep for yourself and still have profits left.
There are a large number of auctions now for $500 - $600/set that are coming off auction now with 0 bids. None of the singles are getting bids. And I've seen a few auctions where the same bidder has bid up the price. On the $3499 auction above, that appears to have been a Buy It Now for $700/set. Seems odd that someone would purchase these coins i this manner since there are so many coming off auction with 0 bids for less.
On Ebay the bids that are for 500-600 are for the sets that are selling soon; like in a couple - several hours... The ones that have no bids are (will be) probably are the ones to be sold on a later date; 2 days from now!
Anoter "graded" set... but for less!!! Still a huge mark-up!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Americ...030?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fe375ec6
Can you say scam? I would be concerned because the cutoff for opening a case on eBay is 45 days, mid-December is 45 days away, if he does not ship by that time but the person does nothing about it, he can keep the 5k with no consequences.
I just watched one set get bid up to $650 at the last second a minute ago. I don't think anything is conclusive yet.
You won't see the "real" price until all the flippers are done - looks like 50% to 75% of these sets could possibly have been purchased to flip.
WOW!!! We will have to wait and see what happens! Right now the "WAR of the GRADED COINS" have started... There is a lone coin "REVERSE": been sold for the asking price of $1,095.00 Makes me wonder if this rush will pass quickly or not... I wonder if anone will go for those prices! A quien Dios se lo dio, que San Pedro se lo bendiga!!!
