Because it's Hallowen, and I love resurecting old threads. I thought I would check out thread #666. http://www.cointalk.com/t666/ HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!
Man, with a post named, "in the interest of Halloween" I was expecting a cool post about coins from Vlad Tepis of something. J/K.
Well, given the guy with post #666 joined in 2004 and only has 4 posts in 7 years, maybe it ended up being a more foreboding "honor" than the innocuous Bulgarian coin would lead one to believe?
I like this idea...sometimes fun to just go look up random threads and see what was going on "back then" So, I went over here to find some of the "numbers associated with Halloween". Granted, the article's a year old, but it's not like that really MATTERED given what we're doing. *heh* ============= $66.28 Amount the average American will spend on Halloween this year - Or this 2005 thread about a Dr Sun Yat Sen 1912 Gold Coin. $23.37 Average expenditure on on a costume - Even back in 2004, Doug was telling people their coins weren't real! :too-funny: The best part is the thread was started by "Vlad". $20.29 Average expenditure on candy - We know how much Americans spend on candy...but we're not sure how much this coin is worth. 22% Share of costumes purchased online this year - Anyone care to guess the grade of those images? :too-funny: For a real laugh, check out the dates on posts 10 and 11 55% Share of costumes purchased at Halloween pop-up stores - Or, a thread asking where to buy/sell items on CT. 15,000 Total number of Halloween pop-up stores this year in the U.S. - An 1863 IHC found MD'ing...complete with explanation of MD'ing. $5.8 billion Estimated total Halloween spending in 2010 — a 17.7% jump over last year - CT is popular, but not THAT popular. I did go look up thread 177 though... 25% Jump in sales of canned pumpkin - Along with a 25% jump in Peter answering questions about promotions. 13% Rise in sales of carving pumpkins - Unlucky thread 13 asked what people collect. $15 Cost of Dremel's 6-volt Pumpkin Carving Kit tool - While thread 15 announced an upcoming chat feature. 40.1% Americans who say they'll dress up this year (up from 33 percent last year) - Joe Garbarini missed a 2003. A 2003 what, we're not sure, but he's looking. Someone else was looking for the upcoming State Quarter designs in thread 33. 11.5% Americans who say they'll dress up their pets - Lots of discussion about a 1955 Double Die in MS63 in thread 115. 34% Americans who believe in ghosts - Slightly higher than those who believe in mixing Euro coins with State Quarters, apparently....
