You can't even buy proof silver eagles outside of the mint for $46, that seems wayyyy too good to be true, but i'll take it!

Unless silver takes off in the next 12 days, that's the price. Probably the econ best price to maximizes profit which would mean they'll sell as many as they can or some high limit other 100k. Probably saw the over whelming positive reaction to the set and figured they could sell a lot of them and why not, everyone should be able to get as many as they want, rather than be taken advantage of by speculators.

Either that or they got a lot of planchets at bargain basement prices in the futures market.

And I don't kid myself. These guys buy planchets way ahead of time and lock in a price.

true, that would be diabolical, but the Mint has never offered these products seperately and although it is their prerogative to do so, the likelihood is small. These coins will most liely be available only in this set and truthfully, were they available elsewhere, the set would likely not sell out.

If the mintage limit is not 100,000 it would be a major bummer, it may buy it, I may not...

I looked at one today and I didn't like the reverse proof at all. It looked cloudy. I'm guessing this set was just a bad one. I've been wanting a set for awhile but I learned today that I will have to look at it real carefully before I buy it.

I hope the 25th anni set doesn't have that problem.

Yep! The Mint must be the largest purchaser of PM's, so they're definitely getting a deal and have some control over the market. A few months ago, when silver hit $48/oz, wasn't there a big producer that sold futures for hundreds of millions of ounces for $18/oz?

I was looking at the beauty my 2006 20th anniversary set of three and I am very much looking forward to the new five-coin set coming out in a week-and-a-half. I will also be delaying the purchase of the latest five-ounce "puck" a couple of days in order to save on the shipping cost.

I’ll get both, as I remember when ASE’s started, for many years not many believed they were collectable and preferred Morgans, as some still do. The 5oz ATB’s, especially the P’s are super low mintage compared to the ASE’s, so if/when they catch on, well…….

So, who's going to call the Mint Monday morning and ask them what's going on with the "Limited mintage"?

Today at a coin show, I was talking to a dealer about the 2006 set and I mentioned this set also. He said that he would pay whatever the mint charges plus 50 dollars per set I ordered that I would want to sell him, up to 30 sets. I have the ability to buy 25 sets. What do you guys think? If I can get the sets, should I sell right away for the $50 per set profit or would it be better to hold on to them? At 24 sets (I want to keep one for myself), I'd be running a $1200 profit, which isn't too bad.

I wonder what the chatter was, regarding the 20th anniversary sets, on this forum back in '06. I wasn't a member then so I don't know, but I do know this. With all the talk of flipping and making big gains profit wise, I'm beginning to get a trifle trepedacious about ordering a few more than two or three sets. The fact that the mint is now being rather veiled in the mintage numbers also makes me wonder. The marvelous thing about this forum is that we all openly discuss what our intentions are regarding buying and selling. Perhaps too open. For a person to sink major money into something like this issue could potentially wind up quite disastrous given a fickle change in the wind......

I'm sure getting that same feeling.
Time will tell but it's a risk vs reward thing I guess.

5 sets per household, and you, and people like you that want to drive the prices up by scheming more! Sad in my opinion! But whatever floats your boat!

"Money is the root of all evil", so what would you expect? Your hobby is the root.

Depends how many the Mint will make. If they set no or a high limit, not much potential and ain't no way a dealer will pay a premium when they can easily order them.

If you're going to quote stuff, get it right. It is NOT money that is the root of all evil, but the love of money that is the root of all evil.

Big difference between that and what you said.
