There are too many other sources to buy coins/bullion from so I pass on coin purchases from China. A Chinese panda or other chinese bullion have not passed through my door.

I simply steer clear of any purchases from China. If you purchased from ebay, look at the reviews and make sure the seller has a perfect feedback rating.

Unless you're into collecting fakes... then you steer in the direction of China.

When I was searching for coin shows in this forum, I came across a thread where someone bought a silver coin AT A COIN SHOW and got it graded when they got home. It came back "Authenticity Questioned" (or something like that). So if fakes are slipping through the cracks and reaching coin dealers, that tells you that these replicas are spot-on! I'm sure you've read up on that Apple Store in China that's selling fakes. Talk about buyer beware.....

Seconded. I've been burned on Chinese silver. One seller of 'super cheap' [i.e., lead] bars promised a refund, so I sent the package back with the bars. It was bounced back to me after being sliced open and having its contents removed. I never got the refund, so I chalked the loss up to my own foolishness.

There are lots of fake coins on the market from China, particularly fake Pandas and fake Morgan Dollars. Unfortunately, lots of these fakes have already made there way over here, so simply avoiding Chinese coin dealers is not going to protect you completely from purchasing fake coins.

Here is what you can do to protect yourself from fake coins:

1.) Buy only from reputable dealers. Simply looking at a feedback score on eBay is not adequate; a Chinese seller may have earned hundreds of good feedback points simply buying penny junk on eBay, before they get around to selling fake coins with the confidence they've earned. There are actually excellent coin dealers out of China, one of my favorite Chinese eBay dealers is hangzhouhuayinshoucangpin

    or

2.) Buy only NGC and PCGS certified coins. These coins have been certified for their authenticity, so even if you're buying one from a new eBay seller you can be confident that the coin is genuine. HOWEVER, before you go this route, you should familiarize yourself with the PCGS and NGC coin holders, as there are also fake slabs out there.

If you are interested in a coin auction on eBay, and are unsure of the item's authenticity, STAY AWAY. Especially if the seller is overseas, there is a good chance that the coin is FAKE (there are tons of them on eBay, and not just from China). I hope this helps!

Its good that you have bought coins from China but its seems like too much rules and conditions to me..
I also tried to buy but my friend told me to buy coins from your local dealers they can provide you best deals with the total satisfaction. Here is a website I would like to share http://www.sellingsterlingsilverware.com/

    Screwed on Ebay again

I have purchased 24 silver dollars on ebay from mostly Canadian sellers in the past few months.
Only 20 have showed up.I have been waiting over 6 weeks on the other 4.
I will probley never see them and done buying on ebay again.
    100% feedback means very little.
I can only assume they are keeping me quessing until the 60 day feedback period ends hoping they don't get negative feedback.
Go to your local coin dealer or show and walk out with the coins in your pocket.

Did you contact the seller? This is an ongoing problem with silver coins as the spot price keeps going up. That's pretty stupid of them to jip you b/c you'll leave them a negative feedback! But I do know from other silver buyers that there are some sellers who ship a little at a time. They tend to hold onto the silver to see if it goes high. It's fishy but it's a sad world out there.

In disputes, eBay usually sides with the buyer. You have leverage.

I wouldn't put it past the shipping company either. It's not hard to lose an envelope with a coin in it. Plus even though it's Canada it's still international shipping which adds another layer. I don't think 100% feedback worth paying attention to unless they also have the bulk of sales to go with it. I have only purchased a handful of things from ebay, and one bad experience was enough for me to relegate it to the last resort or must have category.

Also, I would not purchase anything from China if I could help it. Too risky, too many variables. For me the whole point of precious metals is peace of mind.

I would say that if you are buying direct from China, you have about a 90% chance you are getting fakes. When you get your coins, compare details and weights with real coins.

Follow up, ***** , ok I learned my lesson, I got the seven 2007 panda coins today from China and I did quick silver test on the edges of one coin, If I'm lucky it might be 30% silver even tho the coin has .999 on them. this was a complete was of my time. lesson learned Jay
