Boy, McIntosh Collectibles at the shows are the only ones who have sold me silver at spot. That's amazing. No where online can I find silver for spot or even a little tiny premium. For example, Apmex wants $45 extra on top of shipping to process 50 oz of silver so the total is well over $900. Yikes. Anyone have luck with finding bullion at very fair prices online?
Spot price is for 1000 ounce bar in US dollars. It costs money to make it into smaller coins and collectibles. The best bet to buy at spot is eBay.
It depends on whether you are buying to resell in the near future or buying to hold. If you are buying to hold, I consider ASEs for any price less than $20 to be a good deal. The premium is worth it for the ease of resale and potential future numismatic value. If you are buying to resell, you are correct that there doesn't seem to be anything out there at spot.
Or just buy from fellow collectors who are selling. Many will be willing to sell at spot because 99.9% of dealers will pay them below spot if they sold that way. I've bought lots of silver/gold that way at or below spot. Mostly in the form of 90% junk silver. Try the open forum here, maybe post a wanted to buy post, or try the buy, sell trade forums of other sites you use. cut out the middleman!!!!!!
Excellent idea....BNB have you had any success getting the benefits of being a [online] dealer vs. a B&M dealer...or are you just treated as a retail customer?
oh, ok, no, sorry, I was wondering if there are alot of people who buy large quantities -- like around $1000 face value bags?
Many people buy in those quantities. The classifieds here aren't a bad bet. Also, the BullionStacker.com forums have many members who don't shy away from purchases of that size or larger. Ebay will probably net you the highest sell price, but once fees are taken into account you may be better off here or on BS.
