ATB Airtight Question

Upon receiving the collector’s version of the ATB coins, has anyone else received an airtight that had a scratch on the inside or white pressure marks on the sides?

When I received my Yellowstone coin I noticed the scratch on the inside of the airtight, and that the airtight also had some white pressure marks along the sides of it where the two sides snap together. I didn’t bother sending it back for a replacement given that the coin was in perfect condition…didn’t want to risk receiving a banged up and edge nicked coin for a replacement. Thankfully, the scratch on the airtight is barely noticeable, and the white pressure marks aren’t too distracting. Maybe I’m being too picky given some of the ATB coins I’ve seen…

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else had received some damaged airtights along with their ATB coins.

My Hot Springs was in good condition, just loose. The other two I've left unopened in the Mints original packaging.

When you sell it for melt in 10 years no one will care if it has a scratch or not

Really, but what if they were badly damaged? Or are you planning to sale them later mint in shipping box, so to speak?

What a realistic way of looking at things. :smile

Way to add to the conversation!!

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to have them graded. If I do, in order to get the "1st Strike" designation it has to be either 30 days from release, or unopened in original packaging.

Even if they were damaged, they are selling too quickly to exchange from the Mint. I would just end up with someone else's return (or possibly nothing at all).

I wasn’t aware you could still get the First Strike designation if the product was unopened in the original packaging. Thanks for that bit of information…I will have to keep that in mind.

In regards to an exchange from the Mint, I read on another person’s blog that they spoke to customer service, and the representative told them that the Mint holds back approximately a thousand coins for possible exchanges. I don’t know if this information is true or not, but it sounds possible though not every plausible.

The airtights being damaged, or loose on the coin upon arrival?

4 out of five of the air-tites I bought are "loose". I have to be careful just picking up one of them as it wants to fall apart. They were brand new too.
