The 2010 ATB unc. coins with a mintage of 27,000 will probably be sold out before July 4, so the Mint will probably sell the 2011 ATB unc. coins during the second half of the year. Has the Mint announced what the minatge of the 2011 ATB Unc. will be?? 2010 Bullion - 33,000 Unc. - 27,000 Total - 60,000 2011 Bullion - 126,700 Unc. - ??? Total - ?? Thanks
Dave: I have not heard any news about mintage numbers for 2011 collector version. I do not believe that the Mint is obligated to produce them at all like they are the bullion version. TC
I've stated this on another post but I'll state it here again. Does anyone see a big difference in the bullion versus the UNC version of these hockey pucks? I've bought the first two 2010's from the mint and they seem to be keeping value at above $325. APMEX is now selling the 2011 bullion coins for about $215. Does that suggest an eventual drop of the mint coins to somewhere near $200? Another interesting note is the sale of UNC mint boxes on ebay. Hum, I wonder what the buyers are doing with them?
Here's what I know regarding the boxes being sold without the coins. Often, when a person buys a slabbed coin, he/she does not receive the original Mint packaging with the slabbed coin. Why would the person want it? There are 2 reasons basically. The first is just to have everything as it was originally issued. The second reason is it can be deposited into an IRA account, if the orginal box and paperwork are included. I don't know why it makes a difference regarding an IRA account, but I was told by a coin dealer it does somehow. I recently purchased the Yellowstone collector's version from the Mint for $280.00. When I received it, it had a number of small nicks around the rim. I sold it to a local coin dealer for $350.00. A week later, I puchased an NGC69 Yellowstone collector's version from the same dealer for $350.00. This coin is nearly perfect, if not perfect. I asked to have the original Mint packaging included for the above reasons.
