Uh oh! I finally worked up the gumption to open up my box (received earlier this week). I don't want to destroy the beautiful presentation box, but I can't get the coin out of the insert!! Uh oh!!! I was thinking a nail file, but the logical part of me says wait and take it in to the coin shop (an hour away) later in the week. What do you think? Any helpful ideas? I cannot see the other side of the coin Thank you in advance. Lucy
I took the coin and insert out of the box and pushed gently on the back of the insert to push the coin out.
I thought I was going to have to get the crow bar out.. Its hard to push in and out, but I've done it at least 20 times and have not had the holder break. Just use a little more force. Bacon
I received my Hot Springs P 5 oz Uncirculated coin and I was disappointed because the finish is very dull. I don't know what to call it, but the 5 oz Bullion coins have more lustre Also there is a couple of globs on it, very visible to the naked eye. Under 10X magnification, the globs appear to be the same color as the coin, opaque, dull grey. After reading, I conclude it must be splattered from the "...ceramic media mix." used on this coin. Perhaps there should be a new grading term like DO for Dull Opaque. And perhaps there should be one like SCM for Splattered Ceramic Mix. I will try a picture later.
Anyone have good comparison pics of the Hot Springs Unc P 5oz'er to determine if the lines/ripples through Springs are exactly the same on all coins? If they are exactly the same, this could indicate it's the die.
