It depends on the condition of the silver dollars as well as their dates. If all 6 were common dates and culls then I would probably rather have the SAEs. But if they were decent silver dollars able to command any kind of a premium over their melt than I would rather have the silver dollars.

I'd probably say the silver dollars ... Unless they were slick coins or have been through a harsh cleaning

    .773 (Morgans) pure silver X 6 = 4.638 oz. pure silver.

    5 ASE's = 5 oz pure silver.

Bullion investing forum = go with the ASE's.

Coin collecting forum = go with the Morgans.......

I don't know the coins ( assume average stuff) I know the poster from a non-numismatic forum. I'd have kept the 6 silver dollars....lets call them something generic like XF 1921 Morgans to define them. 6 common dollars or 5 ASE's ?

I'd have to do the math on it, but I wouldn't pay a fee to exchange one form for the other. Either form is going to rise and fall with the price of silver. If I knew little about coins, I'd still just keep it the way it is presently.

This "Kidman" is not an idiot, nor is he a numismatist, he's more like the modern guy that buys some physical silver, he likes ASE's I guess and no love for 100 year old silver dollars. I've advised him on some silver purchases in the past. I could see selling 40% halves or war nickels to get ASE's or 90% coins. As a sort of silver hoarder, I think this guy should have just left it as is. He even makes youtube videos od his silver !

You got a good deal on the ASEs at only $3 per coin over spot. And you ended up with a little more silver.

However, I'd've still kept the silver dollars. More numismatic value. That's just me.
