Had a rough day and feeling a little overwhelmed. You all know how that is (Xmas shopping). Just thought I would share a couple of Errors that I just realized this week that I had. I went through my whole collection this week and finally organized it. Well, most of it except the foreign coins (sorry World coin guys) As you can see, it's a 2000 and 2001 LMC's Off-centers. I just need someone to tell me how to tell the percentages off??? Thank You all and Happy Holidays!!
how did you find those? In Coin Rolls somehow or bag of coins ... change ?? @IrishLuck - see more off centered examples
Those are off on both sides. That’s a different error than mine. But I don’t recall what to call them.
@IrishLuck . If yours is off on one side only than it's considered a MAD error. Also known as Misaligned Die Error. A misaligned die is when the hammer die is off alignment in orientation to the coining chamber and when it strikes the coin the obverse side of the coin is struck off center. The misaligned strike is only off center on one side of the coin, if both are then it is called an off center strike. Also misaligned strikes can result in partial collar strikes as well. Please disregard if you already knew this.
Thats why we do this, are ya hooked yet? We can teach you the ropes, coins are a blast, especially when you can take a common coin that will always be common, give it a variety, or in this case a mint error. The coin at the average price yeah may be one cent but add a grade and attribution. It could easily be a couple of bucks to hundreds.
That's OK. We get a little off-center too, occasionally. After we've been struck multiple times. See? My sixpence is defective!
That’s because you are off-center, everybody knows that. I’m a horse, and you’re off-center. Merry Christmas, nice coins!
OP: one on right looks 15% O/C and one on left looks 20%. Just judging from what makes it on the slabs of the numerous ones I have.
