I'm right there with you, Salty! There's so many 1st's with this series (along with low mintage), I've always thought it was a no-brainer. Also, the "hard to store" complaint just cracks me up :too-funny: Do people not collect anything larger in size than coins?
Well said, Ken. It is great advice for people to collect what makes them happy. I ordered one and believe it will be on it's way within days. I did not order for bullion content though so not as concerned as some with the recent correction in silver spot. I ordered it as a collectable: First issue of its type, low mintage, etc. I will probably not collect the entire series, but who knows how I will feel once I have the puck in hand. TC
I'm not going to open the shipping box! It will be up to the next owner to see the coin! I never saw any status change etc (I didn't look I received the email last night it was shipped out). Card was charged at that point.
I just received my coin also. It was just shipped yesterday. UPS next-day air. That's impressive! I haven't opened it yet.
"Your order request has been shipped" Bow chicka wow wow!! :u*meY: And by "Next Day Air"...even though I didn't pay extra for it!
I opened my coin a little while ago. I have the same slight line on the Hot Springs side as JonH does, but you really have to be looking for it to see it. The finish on the coin is pretty decent. It's definitely not a proof with frosted images (oh, how I wish!), but, on the other hand, it's nowhere near as unimaginative as the glossy, aluminum-foil finish of the bullion version. Overall, I like it.
Yep, I resemble that remark as well. The US Mint has done very well about making this product available to us common folk.:thumb: That's said, they're charging too much money!
Overall, how do you think your coin would grade out? Since all of them (so far) seem to have this "slight line" on the Hot Springs, will that effect the grading? I ask because I've ordered 2(with thoughts to resale the lessor coin) and would really like to collect a high graded set.
I'm not that well-versed in grading, but I am taking it to Modern Coin Mart next week (they are in my home town) and they will submit it to NGC (which is right across the street from them.) I'll post the result when I receive it.
Thanks, Treehugger...keep us posted :thumb: :loud: How about everyone else here? What's the general consensus regarding the line on the "Springs"? If they all do indeed end up suffering from it, will it effect grading?
Mine says shipped and out for delivery today! WOO HOO!! However, I haven't been charged for it yet. Don't they usually charge before they ship an item? Anybody else have theirs shipped but not charged?
The charge should be posted in the next day or two. There is sometimes a brief lag between the charge and when it actually hits your account. TC
My online card info shows authorizations as well as purchases. The mint posted an authorization last week.
I don't have a charge or an authorization on my card. However, I am holding my coin in my hot little hand right now! It's beautiful! And I don't see any issues at all yet.
Since it's the result of the minting process (and not post mint) the grade should not suffer all that much, but if there are examples without the anomaly guess which example will grade higher.....
