Just SHY of THE mother lode. This place has been worked over for 100 years. Still averages around 0.150 / 0.200 of a gram per cubic yard of material.
There are things I'd lug around for $10 per cubic yard, but at this point it's pretty much down to packing peanuts and (inflated) balloons. But I do understand the thrill of the hunt, and I'd surely be at it myself if I had a convenient gold-bearing creek.
I have always wanted to do that, unfortunately the closes I have ever come is panning for gold at Knotts berry farms but I have done that a few times...LOL
Just came in today so I thought I would share the 1 OZ GOLD krugerrand 2000, with an extremely low mintage of only 37,998 according to the rand refinery records, very sure a very tough get !
Got myself a Gold Elephant, early Xmas present, oh and it's a top pop! These South African gold coins sell for top dollar but I've been wanting one for quite awhile so I bit the bullet and blamo, here it is!
Yeah, but with what people consider entertainment these days (wearing hockey masks, wielding chain saws, etc.), I can't bring myself to call swinging a pick axe entertainment.
No, no, it's entertaining to do, not to watch. (Although if that's what someone likes to watch, I won't judge; seems more exciting than certain sports I won't name... )
That day about Three hours. Then... Half hour drive each way and about an hour panning out the concentrates. Best calculations, we moved a half yard of dirt and rocks. (Rocks to dirt ratio? Guessing half and half) The trommel screen's the material down to 1/4" then flows smoother through the drywasher. Down side you move the material and extra time. If anyone is wonder I way overbuilt the trommel weighing in at 60 pounds, after a day of entertainment value it's a good thing we don't have to park too far away. The day before had a bonus picker...for a total of 0.309 grams.
Heres the latest Kruger to be added to my collection, just came in today its very special in the fact that its a privy coin, this particular one celebrates the 50th anniversary of the krugerrand 1967 - 2017
