Hi there - I've purchased bullion coins from Apmex, but am wondering if anyone knows of other reputable places that have lower premiums? I've done some looking online but the other ones I've found have higher premiums than Apmex. I'm looking for Gold Eagles or Maple Leaves. Thanks!
It can only go so low then its pointless to even sell. We are not non profit orgs. But, who knows, on a good day if I make a good buy I pass on the savings to my clients.
I just sold $300,000. worth of silver bullion at 1% So, the more you buy the lower we can make the prems. People need to think and be reasonable as buyers, why wast my time being beat up by one guy when there are 100s of buyers that understand that we have a business to run with overhead and people who work for us that we need to pay. In the end it is the service that makes the differance.
You might want to look at Gainsville Coins. (I can't vouch for them b/c I've never bought anything from them. Prices seem good though) Golden Eagle (I've been to the shop many times. I can vouch for these guys. Price not always lowest however)
You'll get the lowest premiums from a no-frills high-minimum Internet seller with a minimum of human service. Tulving would be an example.
Develop a relationship with your local B&M coin shop/dealer. I do a lot of business with one in my local area, he gives me pretty good deals when I buy in bulk. His spread is usually less than I can get from APMEX or other large on line brokerages, especially once you factor in shipping. Plus there's the instant gratification factor. I actually walk away with a bunch of silver coins, instead of waiting '5-10 business days'.
A couple of years ago I did business with APMEX but their S/H was high. Was ready to place another large order for gold bullion then looked at the high S/H then cancelled the order. A few days later i got an email from them asking why I cancelled the order I replied their S/H was much higher then other vendors. APMEX never replied to my email so I stopped doing business with them. Did a lot more business w/ modernCoinmart because their prices were about the same as APMEX but S/H was much more reasonable. I haven't checked their prices or S/H recently. http://www.moderncoinmart.com/cart1/home.php?cat=2
I like Modern Coin Mart also; they are first class. Also, for bullion especially, I like providentmetals.com. Both their premiums and shipping charges are better than most of the others.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I looked at Provident Metals and they are a little cheaper than Apmex on the Gold Eagles - much appreciated!
