    OMG!! Yes you are! :hail:

I checked just four (4) hours ago and they were still listed. The "Death Watch" began just three days ago...it didn't take long for Buchanan to succumb to his illness.

I gotta think something's up! New Mint Director, early sell-outs, delayed issues...I hope this isn't the end of the series. ...or worse, a reduction in size. :so-sad:

That's terrible! Accept an order...deliver a coin! :thumb:

The Abigail Fillmore is the bane of my existence, also. I've been bemoaning my bad luck to jaceravone for at least six months now.

I always order my coins as soon as they go on sale to avoid the dreaded "returns". I ordered two each of the Unc and Proof Abigail Fillmores last March at $716 each for the Uncs and $729 each for the Proofs. I ordered them on the 18th (Thursday) and they were delivered on the 22nd...the following Monday.

I may have picked them up at the PO a day or two later...I don't recall. What I do recall is that the night I got them and opened them up, I had a few too many Jack&Cokes.

As I gazed on the image of Abigail Fillmore, I recall thinking..."What a disappointing, dough-faced, ugly design this is". I packed the coins up and hid them someplace...and to this day, I have no idea what I did with them!:headbang:

I've torn the house apart looking for them and they're no where to be found. I know they're around here some place, but I can't find them. I guess that's what happens when you get old. :grandpa:

I don't know what's worse...putting in an order and having it cancelled or spending all that money and not knowing what happened to the coins. :axemeethead:

Hey Yak, time to put down the Jack and Coke. :)

So when it comes to the First Spouse, as they say in poker, I'm all-in.
I either have on order or in my palms the whole series. I only have the UNC's and I have one proof Filmore instead of a UNC. Maybe I left it at Yak's house somewhere.
So now I just need to get them as the mint releases them. Its a real commitment to buy 4 1/2 ounce gold coins every year but I'm thinking it will be a wise choice.
If not well then I've been wrong before.

Well, if you're wrong, you're still left with a boatload of gold! (hiccup!).

    First Spouse and Air-Tites

So I have a question. I've noticed the earlier FS have different air-tites than the later releases. Are the older ones the "direct fit" air-tites and the later ones the "ring type"?
Or maybe that is something custom from the mint that they abandoned?

I really like the direct-fit ones much better. The newer coins rattle around in there a little. Its almost like the coin is in a Tupperware lunch box where the direct-fit ones are more like holding a real coin. If I'm to collect these and have plans of rolling around in them like Scrooge McDuck I'd much prefer the direct-fit holders. ;)

Can anyone confirm this? I was thinking about replacing the capsule from the mint with the direct-fit version.

If this a bad idea? Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Here are two images from google that kind of show the difference.

    Direct-Fit?

I think the Interior Dimension of each is the same; the newer ones just have a bigger Outside.

    Hey Clay!

Good question! :thumb: (I'm on a poker/golf vacation so I apologize for not answering sooner)

I, too, wished they stayed with the 2007 capsules because they fit perfectly into Half Dollar tubes for storage! Some (not all) of my 2008-Present coins seem to move in their capsules as you noted...not good.

I had to buy some of the "direct fit" capsules for my Liberty Series. jaceravone sold me his limited edition 2007 four (4) coin Proof/Unc boxes. I want to use them to display the Liberty Series, but they only take the smaller 2007 capsules. I bought some of the smaller 2007 capsules for the Liberty series, but I'm worried about moving them and how they will be "received" by the community if they're not in their original holders.

I would have really appreciated it if the Mint didn't change their capsules...dunno why they did.

I just measured both capsules and the width* is as exactly the same as I can measure. Perhaps the Interior Height is bigger on the newer ones? That's harder to measure... I'll compare the rattle of Eliza to my Libertys.

Hey, what ever happened to the complete set holder they advertised for people who originally subscribed? That would be sweet! I wish I'd kept the picture!

    *Interior width that is

I do like the direct fit much better. I'll probably change all mine out.
Ladies First brings up a good question. How to store, present the FS coins? Maybe a album for air-tites would work? Then again changing to direct fit would probably mean they won't fit in the album! Tough life I have eh? :)

Was able to place an order, just now, for:
    -Lincoln Unc
    -Lincoln Proof
    -Filmore Proof

All three have an availability of "IN STOCK". We shall see what the Mint does with my order.

Just a followup from a previous post. I got a shipment of direct-fit air-tites and broke out my First Spouse coins from the clunky "ring-type" to the new ones.
I have to say I like the new ones much better. The tight fit makes it feel like are actually holding a coin instead of a hunk of metal inside of a cheap plastic holder.
So now I not only have a drawer where I chuck all of the original mint boxes but I will be throwing the old air-tites in there as well.

Are these limited production coins selling for a premium? I see many different threads "Another FS Sellout"

they are cutting off sales willy-nilly. For example they just cut off sales of the unc Mary Todd Lincoln coin with no warning. when they cut off sales with no warning it leaves some collectors high and dry which can pop up prices.

I'm surprised Jane Pierce is priced at the low end, since her mintages are significantly lower than all the 2008 issues. Nobody loves Jane? Or does it just take a while for the prices to come up after they sell out?
